There have been complaints from startups outside the capital that the UK government is being too London-centric with its promotion of Tech City (Silicon Roundabout), the cluster of tech companies located in and around the Shoreditch area of east London.

Well, hopefully this website, siliconnorth.co.uk, aims to address that bias by not only bringing news of entrepreneurs and startups in the North of England but by also becoming a hub for the industry.

It’s a dynamic industry with lots going on, but up until now it has not had a dedicated platform to bring all that news together in one, easy-on-the-eye and accessible place.

From offices in York we will  bring you all the latest tidbits of news, events and gossip from the northern tech and startup scene. Our aim is to carry in-depth coverage on topics relevant to not only the people working in  the industry but readers in general who wish to discover latest trends and developments.

We’ll be covering not only the major companies in the industry, but the little guys too – because one day they are going to turn into the big guys, and it’s all happening here under our very noses.
